>> At the nomination ceremony, nakomis made her decision clear.
>> I nominated michael and andrew for eviction.
>> But she made promise to her brother.
>> I just want to tell you that if it does come to a tie you won't lose? Diane feared that nakomis and karen's loyalty was only to each other.
>> I don't have a commitment with diane.
>> So she joined forces with the boys.
>> I will try my best to keep both of you here.
>> I will love you forever.
>> In the veto competition, michael, drew and diane worked together to keep their plan on track.
>> Whoa!
>> Veto once again.
>> At the veto ceremony diane betrayed karen and nakomis.
>> I do choose to exercise the power of my veto, and i choose to save you, drew.
>> Forcing karen on to the block.
>> Diane has lied so many times in this game.
>> Will diane's betrayal cost karen the game, or is cowboy heading for an ambush, and who will win the next crucial head of household competition?
>> Find out live tonight on "big brother 5."

>> Julie: Good evening. I'm julie chen. Welcome to "big brother 5." It's day 70 inside the "big brother" house and with two weeks to go until finale night the five remaining houseguests are closer than ever to the half million dollar prize. Tonight, karen, the portrait artist from new jersey, and michael, the security officer from oklahoma, are up for eviction. Only two houseguests, drew and diane, will cast their votes and evict live. If there is a tie, nakomis, the current head of household, will cast the deciding vote. Tonight's evicted houseguest will sit on the "big brother 5" jury that decides the winner. First, diane has double crossed the girl alliance by forming a partnership withdrew and michael and conceiving a plan to evict karen. Will it work?
>> I do choose to exercise the power of my veto. And I choose to save you, drew. So...
>> Karen, I'm going to have to put you up on to the green block.
>> The plan this week goes like this. I saved drew and that put karen on the block next to cowboy. Two people are voting for eviction this week, drew and myself. I am sitting kind of pretty in the house with everybody on my side right now.
>> I was sitting out here by myself sulking.
>> I don't think that they will.
>> I don't either. But i didn't think that she would use the veto either. She made a commitment to me and you, final four. And drew probably made that commitment to cowboy, final four. So she wants to prove to drew that she will do anything he wants so she's going to go with his final four instead of our final four. If you don't believe that, you're naive and i know you're not.
>> If there's a tie, there's a tie and cowboy will win.
>> The only thing that makes me nervoussy told cowboy previously that I would break the tie in his favor, but I'm not going to be able to now, because why would i want to keep cowboy when karen is on the block and I'll have a better chance of staying in the house if karen is here?
>> I hope it comes to a tie so that cowboy can look at me all cocky and i can say, cowboy, I'm sorry, but you're out.
>> If drew said he was voting out cowboy, right now I'd believe it.
>> I don't think that you'll be leaving. Diane wants cowboy gone.
>> I know.
>> I know.
>> I'll be natural this week and trust you 100%.
>> We can tell karen exactly what she needs to hear, and she will have one minute to realize that it just changed.
>> What?
>> And at one time i wanted to go with my sister but she's plotting to get me out this week.
>> Now we know what's going to happen in the "big brother" house.
>> I'm pretty worried about diane. I'm kind of scared and cowboy is scared that nakomis and karen are just going to corner diane and just shoot at her to see what diane will say.
>> The vote is going to be -- if it's not unanimous, it's going to be a tie. So i really don't think there's anything to worry about. This is what i told her. Trust me when i say if the votes are not unanimous, then it's going to be a tie and she's going to break the tie. It's the only way that this will work. Who's dealing?
>> If the vote is tied, i know that nik would put cowboy out of the house, absolutely. She would hate to do it, but she would do it. Nik needs karen around. That's her alliance.
>> Diane looked me in the face today and said, you know, you'll be fine, but, you know, she could be lying to me. I don't think diane could pull off a bold faced lie as smooth as she did. However, i really don't trust her now, and I'm wondering if diane and drew have been playing everybody all along.
.
>> I feel that i would not have made it to the final four without you.
>> Same here, dude.
>> And i might be crazy for it, but this was only hope that we have, and that's why I took it.
>> Yeah.
>> Phase one and two of our plan is over. Diane won the veto and she's -- she used it to save me. Karen is on the block.
>> What's the hurt?
>> That diane votes karen out.
>> What's four?
>> Next week.
>> We win H.O.H..
>> Win H.O.H. And make sure diane doesn't win H.O.H.
>> You and i will be the final two standing.
>> Break it up, break it up.
>> Why, we're talking but.
>> I know. I figured that much.
>> You're not going to screw me over after cowboy after all this is said and done, right?
>> Promise?
>> I promise.
>> Swear.
>> Yes.
>> Okay.
>> Julie: Let's head to the living room and check in with the houseguests. Hello, everyone.
>> Hi, julie.
>> Julie: Drew.
>> Yes.
>> Julie: Last week both adria and marvin were evicted. How did it feel to have two houseguests gone within 48 hours?
>> For me to be H.O.H. It seemed like everything wag happening so fast, but for two people to go within the same week and within 48 hours is t seems like the house got cut in half so it's been a lot of change and getting used to the five of us.
>> Julie: Okay. Diane, at one time there were 14 people playing the game. Now it's down to five. Did you ever people that you would make it this far?
>> Of course i did.
>> Julie: I like your confidence.
>> I knew i was coming this far. That's where I'm sitting.
>> Julie: We'll see how far you can take it.
>> I know.
>> Julie: All right. Karen.
>> Yes, ma'am.
>> Julie: The winner of "big brother 5" will walk away with half a million dollars.
>> Mm-hmm.
>> Julie: What would you do with all that money?
>> I'm on the block right now. That's thinking a little far ahead, is it not?
>> Julie: I'm sure you've thought about this question.
>> Actually I'm trying to not contaminate myself with illusions of granduer at this time so i honestly don't know to tell you the truth. I haven't thought that far ahead.
>> Julie: Okay.
>> Sorry.
>> Julie: That's all right.
>> Goose egg.
>> Julie: Michael.
>> Yes, ma'am.
>> Julie: You have talked a lot about your future stepson.
>> Yes, ma'am.
>> Julie: What will you tell him about this experience?
>> For one, if you want something more than anything, go for it, because here i am, as an example and i hope he does the same thing. If he wants to be a police officer that rides motorcycles, go for it, chaseon, if i can do it, you can.
>> Julie: Thank you, michael. Thank you, everyone, and I'll be back to talk with all of you a little bit later. Coming up, last week it was a double eviction. Adria and marvin were both sent off to the jury house, but what was it like when these two competitors arrived just 48 hours apart? And later, tonight's live eviction. Of the five remaining houseguests only two, drew and diane, are eligible to vote. Nominees karen and michael are not allowed to vote, neither is nakomis, the current head of household. For now, let's go to the diary room where diane and drew share their thoughts on michael.
>> This week's decision for eviction is very difficult.
>> Cowboy to me has been like that person that i confide in the most.
>> Cowboy and mike -- might want to use drew at the end of the guy and use a guy versus a girl tactic.
>> If it came down to final two, how could you not vote for cowboy, winning this whole thing, so that kind of scares me. |

CUTiger - Part Two - Carin' for Karen |
#1350126 5:22PM 09/09/2004 |
TV Channel 10 Thu Sep 09 20:12:23 2004 >> Julie: Welcome back to "big brother 5." After nine weeks karen has managed to stay in the game. What has been her strategy to make it this far?
>> I have a very detailed, complicated strategy that I'm trying to stick with in here, and that does not involve bad behavior.
>> Because I feel that there may be a glimmer of hope. I have to still put up the charade.
>> I'm only 30, but there's a very juvenile sense of entertainment and humor. And I'll tell you the honest truth, cut and dried, I'm doing everything I know to stay in this game. I'm laughing at stupid jokes. I'm learning card games. I'm gonna go... I'm staying up all night while everybody is getting drunk and giggling with them. I'm washing tons and tons of dishes and I'm talking about music and things i don't know anything about at all. I've suntanned myself to a crisp. You know, I've shared my makeup with people.
>> Technically I'm against you, but I'm not. I've started to drink coffee to be part of the coffee club. You're talking to the queen of the warriors. I cree with people. I'm going to miss you so much. I have so much respect for you and I would be begging him, begging him, please, please, please, and i have so much respect for that.
>> I know.
>> I'm sorry.
>> A couple of tears won't hurt me.
>> I listien to things i don't know anything about and I try to relate to them.
>> Kids plastic surgery, kids our age, kids will say i want to look like brad pitt.
>> I'm waking quesidillas. I should make little bitty balls and throw them on ice cream. It's so comfortable around here, it's so weird. I don't mind taking a back seat and let somebody else make a decision. I'll do whatever somebody thinks is best. Whatever you think. I at least wanted to make the final four. Honestly, i think that everybody has forgotten that these people that are being ostracized are going to hold the final two fates in their hands. I vote to evict natalie.
>> Natalie, you are evicted from the "big brother" house.
>> I really think like certain players in this game have forgotten that.
>> I vote to evict adria.
>> I can't do that because i have that in the back of my head and I had that in the back of my head when will and natalie and whoever goes this week and it's the only way that I know how to protect myself. I vote to evict marvin.
>> Julie: Marvin, you are evicted from the "big brother" house.
>> In my head I'm trying to figure it out and I don't know if anybody else in here has really looked tat the way I'm looking at it. The biggest part of this game involves the people who are sitting on that jury because they are going to cast the final vote. They are going to decide the fate of the final two, and i need to do everything i can to stay on a playing field with the people who do get evicted from this house because they are going to be making the final decision, and that's the most important part of the game, and I think a lot of people in here have forgotten that.
>> I have to walk around happy as a dumpling if I'm on the block which is a scary thing. I have to do it. And i still might get my ass booted out.
>> Yeah.
>> Even after i wash their dishes.
>> Julie: It's time to talk privately with nakomis who is alone in the head of household bedroom. Hi, nakomis.
>> Hi, julie.
>> Julie: Remember, your fellow house mates cannot hear you, so feel free to speak openly.
>> Okay.
>> Julie: Diane within the golden power of veto and took drew off the block changing your nominations and forcing you to nominate karen. How surprised were you by diane's actions?
>> Um, in one way i was really surprised, and another way i wasn't surprised at all. I thought that the promise that we had made and the trusts that we have would have gone a lot further than it did, but it didn't, and i kind of understand because, you know, her man drew was on the block so I guess we know where we stand.
>> Julie: Well, your strategy has worked in the past. You were instrumental in getting jase and the twins out of the house. How do you plan on making it to the final two?
>> Well, hopefully karen will be here next week, and hopefully she will get H.O.H. But, you know, drew trusts me, and I think that he wants to do more with me and he doesn't want to take diane to the end or I could go with diane, it all -- it's opportunity, when opportunity knocks, answer your door.
>> Julie: You will not be able to compete in tonight's head of household competition. How safe do you feel in the house?
>> If karen is still here, i feel very safe in the house, but if karen happens to leave this week, i feel a little bit vulnerable.
>> Julie: What about michael? If michael stays in the house, do you think he'll side with you?
>> If michael stays in the house, michael doesn't talk to me on a daily basis so i do not think that michael would side with me whatsoever.
>> Julie: All right. Well, thank you, nakomis. Can you go back into the living room and join your house mates.
>> Thank you.
>> Julie: You're welcome.
>> Julie: Coming up, last week's double eviction sent two more people to the "big brother" jury house. What's it like for will to be living with adria and natalie again, and how shocked were the jury members when marvin walked through the door? For now let's return to the diary room where diane and drew give their thoughts on karen.
>> Karen has kissed a lot of ass this entire game, and i don't know if that type of player is the kind of person that should win.
>> The one good thing about keeping karen around in this game would be to have more girls than guys and have that as the stronger number.
>> Karen can never lie, that's a positive to have around in a person, because there's a lot of people that are playing this game that don't tell the truth.

CUTiger - Part Three -- The Jury house is more fun to watch, and they're not bad at scripted speech. |
#1350196 5:34PM 09/09/2004 |
TV Channel 10 Thu Sep 09 20:23:07 2004 >> Julie: Welcome back. Adria had a difficult relationship with both will and marvin. What was it like for adria to see will again at the "big brother" jury house, and how surprised was she when marvin suddenly showed up? Waiting at the bottom of the stairs for a new houseguest to arrive is the most nervous and frenetic experience. You might see a friend but that means that friend isn't going to win the money. You might see someone you don't want to win the money but then that means you'll have to spend an entire week with that person.
>> Here we go.
>> Who is it, who is it?
>> Oh, yeah!
>> Never would have guessed it.
>> All of a sudden out of nowhere adria rounds the corner. At the exact moment i saw her it was almost like this smug validation because now, you know, i might not be walking home with half a million dollars but neither are those bitches.
>> It's time to fiesta.
>> Oh, my god.
>> Internally i really sensed a feeling that adria was on her way to the sequestered jury house so i was happy to see her.
>> Good to see you guys.
>> When i gave will a hug i know from my end that it was full out, that i was just like, you know, good to see you.
>> And I'm glad to be here.
>> So excited.
>> Welcome to paradise.
>> Now i will not only be living with natalie, but i will also be living with tweedle dum and tweedle dee combined.
>> Oh, my god.
>> Isn't this place absolutely beautiful.
>> Put your bag down and I'll show you around. This is our grand table when we have our dinner and all the meals are showed here. Will, I'm going to show her the bedroom real quick. See you back in a second.
>> She and natalie pick up right where they left off, one brain operating two bodies and in this situation I'd rather be alone.
>> Tell you, we got a new tradition we started here at the juror house and it's a champagne toast.
>> Will, come on, let's do our toast, baby.
>> It's nice.
>> Adria and natalie call me over for the champagne toast and at this point, really, who are we kidding here.
>> A wonderful new jury friendship and a jury to begin.
>> Cheers, cheers.
>> Cheers.
>> You guys will not believe the drama in the house since you guys left. I mean, it has escalated to a whole another level, one extravaganza after the other. Hold on one second.
>> Oh, my goodness.
>> Check it out. I got everything right here.
>> Oh, yes.
>> You're going to be like blown away.
>> All right. Let's go, baby.
>> I am ready as teddy, baby.
>> Bring it.
>> Watching the tapes is such a great thing because although it doesn't give us any dire information we are allowed to watch unbiased cuts of the events, the ceremonies and the competitions.
>> By unanimous vote, adria, you are evicted from the "big brother" house.
>> I'm on the jury and so this week i learned a lot about who i do and don't want to vote for now so I'm sorry.
>> And natalie says that's two more votes on the jury.
>> Yeah, we were.
>> Do you feel like you making that comment at the end about natalie says this, that and the oh, do you think that's kind of defeating your purpose and people will continue to see --
>> Something I did say to her.
>> I watched this tape with them, you forget how they are together. They are like two psychotic cocker spaniels gnawing at the same piece of raw meat. One tries to make the sentence and the other one finishes it and if you come up with any sort of reason or lodge take dispute what you say they immediately jump all over it.
>> I didn't want to say it when I left because everything i said was reflecting on me. I didn't want to reflect on her so I said if you do get evicted, my vote does count.
>> You got a new landlord in town, and his name is marvin.
>> What?
>> You scared the living daylights out of me.
>> Oh, my god.
>> What's up, baby?
>> Out of nowhere marvin walks into the room. It was just so remembering and so amazing because he's someone I totally enjoyed being around in the house.
>> I want to know what's going on.
>> What is up?
>> Marvin, why are you here today?
>> They had a double elimination right after dria got voted out, right after that, after that we had an emergency H.O.H. Competition the next day, and guess who drew puts up? He hears from cowboy that i kissed his old lady so he's mad at her and mad at me, too.
>> You kissed diane.
>> Hey, a brother get locked up he'll kiss nakomis. At the end of the day the way it goes down is we're all on the jury and we control who win this damn game. That's just how it is. We're all loser. We're all fighting -- who lost first, by the way, i beat all of you up.
>> That is too much for me.
>> I need a drink, baby. Who can get me -- will, get me a drink.
>> No, we don't work for you.
>> Oh, excuse me.
>> For real though.>> Julie: Tonight's live eviction is minutes away. Who will be going to the jury house? Karen or michael? Let's go back to the living room and talk with the two nominees. Karen, michael, the live eviction is coming up. Each of you will now have a chance to plead your case to your fellow house mates. Think carefully about what you'd like to say, only two people are voting this evening. So you still might be able to change their minds. Karen, why don't you go first.
>> I have nothing officially prepared, so i think that this game is about different reasons for everybody, and I don't think anybody's reasons are more or less important than anybody else's, and the way I've tried to be is exactly the way I would be in real life, and I've been truthful with everybody, so I'll be truthful. I'd like to stay, if you'd like to have me, and that's pretty much it. You guys know me inside and out and just by looking at me you know what I'm thinking so that's all I can say.
>> Julie: Thank you, karen. And michael, what would you like to say?
>> Karen took the words out of my mouth. You know, over the weeks we've grown really close and even diane and myself. You know, i would love to be on the final four next week as well, and us a all know how i am so if you all feel that i need to go, I'll respect that. If you want me to stay, I'll respect that as well, and thank you a lot.
>> Julie: Thank you, michael.
>> Thank you.
>> Julie: It's now time for the live vote. The two nominees are not eligible to vote, neither is nakomis, the current head of household. In the event of a tie nakomis will cast the deciding vote. One at a time, drew and diane will enter the diary room to cast their votes to evict. You're not allowed to reveal your vote to any of your house mates. Diane, you're up first. Please go to the diary room. Since the beginning of the game, diane formed an alliance with karen but recently conceived a plan with michael and drew to make it to the final three what. Will diane do? Hem owe, diane.
>> Hi.
>> Julie: Please cast your vote to evict.
>> I'm sorry, but i have to vote to evict karen.
>> Julie: Thank you, diane. Please go back to the living room and send in drew.
>> Okay.
>> Julie: Drew is one of michael's closest allies in the game but drew is also thinking about who he would like to be up against if he makes it to the final two. Will he vote to evict karen or michael? Hello, drew.
>> Hey, julie.
>> Julie: Please tell us your vote.
>> I vote to evict karen.
>> Julie: Thank you, drew. Please head back to the living room.
>> Julie: That's two votes for karen, no votes for michael. It is official. Karen has been evicted from the "big brother" house. We'll reveal the voting results to the houseguests when we return. |

CUTiger - Part Four - Cry me a river |
#1350288 5:46PM 09/09/2004 |
>> Julie: Welcome back to "big brother." Let return to the living room and reveal the votes to the houseguests. Houseguest, the votes are in. Just a reminder, when i reveal the results of the voting, the evicted houseguest will have one minute to say good-bye, gather their belongings and walk out the front door. By a anonymous vote, karen you are evicted from the "big brother" house.
>> That's okay.
>> Thanks for back dooring me. That was great. Thank you.
>> When you trust people, you give them the benefit of the doubt no matter what, right?
>> That was my fault.
>> Even marvin didn't get back doored.
>> It wasn't back doored.
>> It was.
>> They said unanimous, they meant it.
>> Nakomis, i know you going to hate me, too.
>> No, dude, it's a game, and I've already said...
>> Julie: Hey, karen, how you doing?
>> Just leave this here.
>> Julie: Throw that down on the ground and come on up how are you?
>> Fine. I two it was coming.
>> Did you.
>> We had that talk in that room, and i want -- i mean, everything is out in the open, and i can talk about it a billion times. Your pinky is the only pinky i touched. I never -- me and her never verbally made any promises to each other.
>> Julie: And i know that --
>> And that's why I'm not mad.
>> Come here.
>> I don't want you to hate me because i voted her out.
>> I don'T.
>> I know, it's -- i understand. Depending on the situation, karen has, you know, i know it's horrible, but karen has a whole bunch of friends in the jury house.
>> I know.
>> And, you know, it sucks and she's a good friend and it's a good game move and it sucks and I kind of expected it to happen, but, you know, I'm not going to get pissed off at anyone, truly. At all.
>> I just thought maybe it was in the best interest. I didn't lie about it but it wasn't in my best interest to say, hey, I'm voting you out thursday, just so you know, you know. I didn't want to have to deal with that.
>> If she said anything, that might make it better.
>> I've completely explained myself.
>> Then you have to...
>> You voted her out, too. Why the "(no audio), why am i getting all the crap for it.
>> Julie: Karen, how are you feeling right now?
>> I knew it's coming because I'm kicking myself because there was a time that aid veto and I chose to leave adria on the block because adria had gone against a promise between diane and will and the group, and it was more in defense of diane and defense of that group and that joint promise, and i kind of didn't want to do it to adria and I did it and adria kind of forewarned me it was coming so...s and adria, before she was evicted, she said she would do what she could to keep you in the house and you voted to evict her.
>> I did.
>> Julie: Looking back, was that a huge mistake on your part?
>> I don't really know because I don't think my vote would have saved her necessarily, but I could see it in body language. I'm a pretty good read of people, and i could tell by the way they -- by the way diane and drew were acting towards me the last couple of days, i knew that they were not being truthful with me, and i just didn't have it in mia me. I'm physically drained and I'm emotionally zapped and it's really hard to deal with the kind of people that they are. They almost are ruling that house and they turn their backs and they walk away and they don't want anything to do with anybody around them and it's just very, very difficult, and the circumstances there are very, very draining, and unless you're in there 4 hours a day, I don't think anybody realizes, even the people at home don't realize, and i really miss my family, so all of that has been very, very hard to begin with so maybe it's for the best.
>> Julie: You did say to nakomis that you did not have a commitment to diane and you wanted her out of the game, so can you blame her for what she did?
>> Diane?
>> Julie: Yeah. In ma that she voted you out and when she had the veto she saved drew knowing you would be put up on the block.
>> Right. The problem I had was the previous veto diane had won when she was put on the block by drew, diane had told me she would not use the veto. They looked me point blank and said if I get the veto I'm not using it and less than 12 hours later she used it and right there and then i feel actions speak louder than words and right there she told me a bold faced lie and that caused me not to trust her and her and drew have obviously been conspiring the whole time and playing on everybody, so, you know, whatever went on, if i told you, hey, drew, diane told me something that wasn't true, he went back to her and it's just -- it's all very juvenile. I'm 30 years old. I'm trying to play hide and seek with these people. I've kind of had enough.
>> Julie: You hung in there and made it very close.
>> I tried. I hope i didn't embarrass my family.
>> Julie: Not at all. Let's hear what your fellow houseguests had to say in the event that you were evicted tonight.
>> Karen, if you're seeing this, that means that you were back stabbed bay whole bunch of hedonistic evil people.
>> Are you going to be missed in this house. You was a great competitor. You played the game very well. I think that you're a great person, great personality, great charisma.
>> Karen, i have nothing against you. I love you as a person. You've been honest with me since day one and I've been honest with you as well. My decision was just because of the game and I'm scared of being the only guy left in this house.
>> Please, please, don't be upset at me or mad at me. I want you to know that what i did was a strategic move only in this game. If nik and you were standing next to me at the end of this game i know the two of you guys would probably have put me out of the game which is why i had to do what i had to do.
>> Julie: Is that true?
>> Actually it is because nik didn't lie to me and diane did. You know, i was playing more with the notion of -- i didn't want to take somebody to the end that everybody hated just because it would have been an easy win. I wanted to take somebody to the end who was honest with me, even if it would have given me a run for my money and i would have came in second.
>> Julie: You know what, karen, we'll see you back here on september 21st when you and the rest of the jury will crown the winner of "big brother 5."
>> I hope it's nakomis.
>> Julie: Okay. We know where your vote is going. We'll see if she makes it to the end.
>> Julie: Thanks, karen.
>> Thanks.
>> Julie: If you have think questions for karen talk to her life tomorrow at 1:00 P.M. Eastern, 10:00 a.M. Pacific on house calls, the "big brother" talk show at cbs.Com and tune in to watch karen on "the early show" tomorrow morning on cbs. When we return, wee down to the final four houseguests. Which one will be the new head of household? The live H.O.H. Competition is coming up.
